United Nations International Youth Day 2022 – Intergenerational Solidarity
Youth Summit in Commemoration of the United Nations International Youth Day 2022. Theme: Intergenerational Solidarity
The need for a deliberate, coordinated and multifaceted approach to solving youth unemployment, underemployment, misery and negative orientation cannot come at a better time.
It is a fact that the whole world is currently facing economic difficulties, and Nigeria cannot be insulated.
It is also a fact that successive governments have not been able to properly dissect the inhibitors of youth activation to productivity as a cycle of systemic development, such that the system will help the youth through infancy and adolescent stages, through qualitative education, learning a vocation and mentorship in good norms and values, no matter the class or creed, ensuring that he or she is productive at adulthood.
At this stage, all through the working life, that youth will also be occupying an income and consumption space, within the GDP framework, where the positive impact of the youth will be felt, resulting in economic growth, development and freedom of life.
We will be very dishonest, uncharitable and unpatriotic to aver that all is well, within the Nigerian space, across all the planks of Human Capital Development, ranging Education, Healthcare and Welfare.
However, we are very proud of the person and personality of our principal Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker, House of Representatives and by extension our Presidential candidate, whose trajectory confers so much confidence in us, and whose love for Education, Youth and Economic Development remains a unique selling point as the election process beckons.
In spite of this commendable trajectory, we are poised to further challenge them to make the most of the overwhelming situation at hand, by not only approaching the issues pragmatically but also, letting it be a major campaign plank that will birth an unprecedented policy shift, helping us to birth a new country in the medium and long term, By God’s grace.
We are convinced the greatest asset in modern economics is the people, and when you dig deep, you are referring to the systemic space occupied by the active working population, whose inputs remains the Youth at Infancy and Adolescent stages, and who should be driven by processes embedded in positive and nationalistic tendencies.
Across the Security space, Production space, Services space, Technology and Entertainment, you find the Youth taking the driver’s seat, and regrettably across the negative areas of insecurity and despondency, you also still find the Youth take the driver’s seat.
And so, our Task is well defined; To have the Youth Demography positively inclined to our advantage as a nation and not otherwise.
